I've noticed that I never notice my head bobbing at the wheel.. but it is.

Hank..It would be wonderful to go for a walk with you, around your neighborhood. I believe that I would enjoy every second of it! I hope that someday that will happen.

Linda; I have only seen herons fish. I had no idea that they were into gophers. What a visual, their patience is astounding.Craig Edwardshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11261106994279997999noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12135667.post-31609663940972385042011-07-15T20:08:37.620-05:002011-07-15T20:08:37.620-05:00I see heron quite often here in Florida, but one o...I see heron quite often here in Florida, but one of the most memorable times seeing them was at our lavender farm in California where they'd catch gophers by spearing them with their beak in winter; they'd wait very patiently till a gopher popped out of their tunnel hole, spear them, and flick them up in the air till they got them just right to swallow whole head down; amazing to see.Linda Starrhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04364078667554676592noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12135667.post-48134840036986587292011-07-12T21:02:31.631-05:002011-07-12T21:02:31.631-05:00They glide down along the Amazon Creek drainage ju...They glide down along the Amazon Creek drainage just a block from our house, so we see them pretty regularly as the bike/hike path follows the stream. Green heron arrive also, but with a less stately presence, being much smaller. All this and more we see on our morning walks in the city of Eugene, OR, well inside the city limits.Hank Murrownoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12135667.post-74924853495479394202011-07-10T13:59:32.805-05:002011-07-10T13:59:32.805-05:00Lovely image you describe, Craig. The image of the heron bobbing his head reminds me of a potter at his wheel, at one with the clay he is forming.Michael Mahanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09178266405071704355noreply@blogger.com
